We saw 16 panellists in attendance.
There were three ideas for policy within your Union, and all were passed. So, let’s have a look at what happened.
Each forum requires a 75% majority to reach a proper fair consensus.
As there were 16 panellists, this meant that we needed 12 votes.
Our first idea was:
Should the University of Leeds offer further support for students with childcare needs?
This proposal was passed, with 15 people voting ‘yes’ and 1 voting ‘no.’ This means that this idea is now policy across campus, and will be active for the next three years.
This idea had an amendment proposed, where for point 3 listed in the possible actions, any extra funding provided to PGRs for childcare needs should be means-tested.
Our second idea was:
Should the University of Leeds provide free eye examinations for PhD students?
This proposal was passed, with 14 people voting ‘yes’ and 2 voting ‘no.’ This means that this idea is now policy across campus, and will be active for the next three years.
Our third idea was:
Should the University of Leeds introduce flexible payment plans for international tuition fees?
This proposal was passed, with 16 people voting ‘yes’ and 0 voting ‘no.’ This means that this idea is now policy across campus, and will be active for the next three years.
In addition to these proposed changes, we received accountability checks from your student leaders.
