Megan’s role with SSAFE was supporting the wellbeing of those within the LUU community. From organising free weekly creative arts and crafts events to relaxed tea and talk sessions, Megan and SSAFE have supported many students since its formation in 2023/24.
Megan’s passion for helping her fellow students led to her working as a Wellbeing Event Steward in 2023/24 at Leeds University Union.
LUU Head of Student Groups Max Camara said:
“I had the privilege of supporting Megan and witnessing the impact of her care, passion and commitment to student safety and wellbeing over many years.”
“From volunteering with Sexpression Leeds, to joining the national committee, and later helping to establish SSAFE, Megan made a lasting difference to the lives of students.”
“ I was immensely proud to see her efforts recognised through several Riley Awards, and her contribution will be remembered with great admiration and affection.”
LUU Security Manager Glen Poole said:
“Megan was an integral part of the team and brought a genuine passion for helping people.”
“She played an important role in supporting students at events and had a natural ability to lift the morale of those around her, whether during quieter shifts or more challenging and stressful situations.”
“Her positive attitude, compassion, and commitment to the wellbeing of others made her a valued and respected member of the team.”
