Varsity is nearly here, and we’re getting ready to see our Gryphons take on the Beckett Bears as our university sports teams go head to head to see who will lift the Varsity trophy!
There’s something for everyone at Varsity.
Varsity is the highlight of the student calendar, whether you’re a dedicated supporter, or just wanting to have some fun with your friends, this is not one to miss!
Day 1 – Monday 27 April
Kicking off this year’s celebrations is the much-loved Varsity Colour Run for a lighthearted and energetic start to the week!
You don’t need to be a ‘good runner’ to get involved, it’s all about making memories and having fun! Run 3km across campus at your own pace, getting covered in colourful powders along the way. This is what Varsity spirit looks like!
The action continues into the evening as Opening Night begins! Watch our high-energy indoor fixtures, netball, korfball, and futsal, as they go head to head and set the tone for an incredible start to the Varsity week.
Day 2 – Tuesday 28 April
The competition continues with standout events such as basketball and hockey, featuring both men’s and women’s teams as they compete to win.
Taking place across the best sporting venues at both universities, Day 2 is the perfect change to get together with friends, wear your colours, and get behind your team!

Day 3 – Wednesday 29 April
The biggest and most exciting day of Varsity is here… the LAST DAY!
With a jam-packed schedule of fixtures running all day, expect to see exciting sports such as football, netball, hockey, and more. Why not get excited before the big Rugby Finale and head down to support the Gryphons?
The Rugby Finale is the pinnacle of Varsity tradition! With sell-out crowds and an electric atmosphere, this is your chance to live and breathe Varsity spirit. Win or lose, it’s all about having an unforgettable experience.
So, what’re you waiting for? Grab your friends and celebrate in the stands as our women’s and men’s teams take to the field.
The night will end with the reveal of the Varsity trophy to this year’s winners as we celebrate an amazing year of sport, and the biggest head-to-head of the season.

Varsity doesn’t stop after the Rugby Finale! The excitement continues beyond as we take to Planet Ice for the Ice Hockey Finale!
One of the world’s fastest growing sports, and known for fast-paced action, this event is the perfect way to round off an unforgettable Varsity experience.
