Last week saw the amazing Winter World Unite Festival return to campus!
We hosted over 35 amazing events to celebrate Leeds University as a diversified, inclusive, and culturally vibrant campus. We had so much fun celebrating with you all and hope you did too!
We began the celebrations with our Global Cafe event, which is organised for every Monday evening throughout term.
Global Cafe is an absolute staple for culture in our university community, a community and space for people to feel confident and heard.
We also had a language-learning taster session in Greek, Bracelet Making and Speed Friending!
With events such as Tea Tasting, cultural dance classes, art workshops, film screenings, and even free food, World Unite Fest brought something for absolutely everyone.
Swing dance and salsa dance were incredibly popular, and completely free! So, if you didn’t get involved this time, why not boogie on down to World Unite Fest next time round?
WU Fest culminated in the incredibly beautiful Show of Unity, where we invited 8 different societies to celebrate culture, music and art. It was an all-evening event, with performances from societies such as Musical Theatre, K-Pop Dance and Chinese Folk Dance, ending with a longer performance by Stage@Leeds.
We had such a great time celebrating everybody’s culture, music, and performance talents, and can’t wait to see what all these incredible societies do next.
As a special interactive piece of World Unite Festival, we set up an interactive wall in LUU foyer, where we invited all of you to share a piece of music that reminds you of home!
We put this music into a playlist, which you can access here:
We hope you enjoy listening to our campus’ favourites as much as we have been!
