We are deeply saddened by the horrific attack at a Manchester synagogue on the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, Yom Kippur. Our thoughts and solidarity are with the victims, their families, and the wider Jewish community at this time of mourning.
We recognise that for many Jewish students, this tragedy is profoundly frightening. Antisemitism remains a lived reality, and events like this reverberate across campuses and communities. You are not alone, and your safety and wellbeing are our priority.
We must not let fear or anger divide our community. Leeds must remain a campus of dignity, respect, and safety for all. Together, we choose solidarity over division.
Your Student Executive will continue to:
- Work directly with Jewish students to ensure your voices are heard and acted on.
- Challenge antisemitism wherever it arises, ensuring zero tolerance of hate.
- Support initiatives that build understanding and cohesion, so that differences do not turn into divisions.
