LeadLUU is just around the corner, but what does that mean for you?
LeadLUU is your unions yearly student voting race, where our students decide who LUU’s student officers should be for the following year.
Both recent graduates and current students are eligible to nominate themselves... could that be you?
The restructuring of LeadLUU means that there are so many more opportunities for student leadership at your union.
We now have 16 roles up for grabs, including full-time, part-time, and voluntary roles!
This year we’ll be electing 5 full-time paid Student Executives, 1 Voluntary PGR Trustee, 5 part-time paid Liberation and Identity Engagement Leaders, and 5 part-time paid Faculty Engagement Leaders.
This means that the work is accessible and manageable alongside your studies, so why not nominate yourself?
What’s in it for me?
As a student officer, you could enhance your CV, all while leading a multi-million-pound charity organisation.
Gaining campaign experience and showing your passion and dedication to student rights doesn’t just do a lot for your campus community, but a lot for you too.
Having the courage, confidence and ability to run in the election alone is incredible, so why not give it a try?
11 out of 16 of these roles are especially designed to be done alongside your studies, and 5 as full-time work opportunities, so what are they all?
You would have the opportunity to make real, exciting change in your Union and your university.
‘Being a student leader has honestly been one of the most empowering and rewarding things I’ve done. You get to make real change for students, work with brilliant people, and grow in ways you don’t even expect. It’s a chance to shape the Union’s direction and learn so much about yourself along the way. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to make a positive impact and be part of something bigger.’
Amara Relf, Union Affairs and Communications Officer 23-26
What is a Trustee?
Our 5 student trustees will be full time officers, who keep everything at LUU running. They inform every decision made by LUU, heading each board meeting.
They are very important to the way LUU’s model is structured, and handle everything from student opportunities to international experience.
They will also be joined by one voluntary postgraduate officer, who speaks up for the PGR at every board meeting.
Who are the Liberation and Identity Student Leaders?
Our Liberation and Identity Student Leaders will be a brand-new group of five part-time officers, supporting liberation work across campus.
Their job will be to ensure that every student, no matter their background, is equitably supported and represented by LUU. They will work closely with the trustees to ensure that every single voice is being heard and understood.
Who are the Faculty Experience Student Leaders?
Our 5 brand-new Faculty Experience Student Leaders will head relationships made between your union and university, particularly within the schools and faculties of the universities.
These officers will oversee all university related difficulties, such as academic support, and work directly with both your union and university.
So, what’s stopping you?
Student Leadership opportunities are so important in building productive and exciting futures for our students, and it is almost time to get nominating.
