Meet your Student Exec!
LUU is led by five full-time student Executive Officers (AKA Student Exec) who are elected by you, other students, during the yearly Lead LUU elections. For this academic year – 2026/27 – your Student Exec are: Lucy Hart, Tineka Jennings, Sylvie Waterhouse-Reed, Dubem Okeke and Abinaya Ashok Anand. Get to know them below!
You can always reach out to the Exec by email or on social media, or find them in their office on the first floor of LUU.
Lucy Hart – Union Affairs & Community Student Executive
@luu_unionaffairsandcomms
What did/do you study?
International relations with a placement year (at LUU!)
Your secret talent, special interest or fun fact?
My special interest is Park Runs followed by a sauna and a cold dip (would recommend Leeds Community Sauna).
Favourite place on campus?
Well it has to be the precinct outside LUU, such good energy, or the Brotherton Library if I need to lock in.
Best thing about Leeds?
The community vibe (and the nightlife…)
Tip to get most out of experience?
Explore the city and outside of the student bubble, see what volunteering opportunities there are at LUU and in the wider Leeds community
Tineka Jennings – Student Opportunities & Development Student Executive
What did/do you study?
Sports and Exercise Science
Your secret talent, special interest or fun fact?
I can click really loud with my tongue.
Favourite place on campus?
Terrace (specifically rollover).
Best thing about Leeds?
LUU obviously. A close second is probably the people though.
Tip to get the most out of the student experience?
Join a society and put yourself out there to find your people! They’ll be at your wedding, and they’re who you will laugh with in twenty years about that weird fifteen credit module. Oh and have no shame, it makes things way more fun. Embarrassment is overrated.
Sylvie Waterhouse-Reed – Academic Experience Student Executive

What did/do you study?
I have just finished my second year studying Philosophy BA.
Your secret talent, special interest or fun fact?
I quit ballet age 16 when COVID hit, but came back to it at university and it was the best decision ever! (“Ayyy we are Leeds Ballet, Chasse, Pas De Bourree!”)
Favourite place on campus?
My favourite place on campus is the sofa seats in Eddy B (Edward Boyle Library) as they have a prime view of the bunny rabbits.
Best thing about Leeds?
The best thing about Leeds has to be living in Hyde Park. It’s always so alive, and feels like being in halls again as everyone’s a few minutes walk away.
Tip to get the most out of the student experience?
Treat nothing as optional! Grab all the opportunities that come your way at uni. Whether they be formative assessments and student conferences, or society give it a goes and being a committee member – all of them will help you get the most out of university.
Dubem Okeke – International Experience Student Executive

@luu_internationalexperience
What did/do you study?
Architectural Engineering
Your secret talent, special interest or fun fact?
I have a passion for bringing people together through music, culture and events. I’m also someone who loves turning random ideas into something real!
Favourite place on campus?
Irene Manton Clusters: Where academic deadlines and last-minute miracles meet.
Best thing about Leeds?
The diverse global talent.
Tip to get the most out of the student experience?
Don’t let your university experience begin and end in the lecture theatre! Step outside your comfort zone, join societies, meet people from different backgrounds and take every opportunity to try something new. You never know which conversation or experience might change your life.
Abinaya Ashok Anand – Welfare & Liberation Student Executive
@luu_welfareandliberation
What did/do you study?
I’m currently studying an LLM in Corporate Law.
Your secret talent, special interest or fun fact?
I can dance in two different styles, I’m a huge Jackie Chan fan, and filmmaking is one of my passions. Just waiting for my big-screen debut!
Favourite place on campus?
Roger Stevens Pond – I love grabbing a coffee and enjoying the beautiful view.
Best thing about Leeds?
Leeds is such a student-friendly city. I love seeing students from diverse backgrounds coming together. The welcoming and inclusive atmosphere makes the city feel like home.
Tip to get the most out of the student experience?
Make the most of every opportunity that comes your way, step outside your comfort zone, and never hesitate to give something new a try. You never know where it might lead!
