With 16 panellists and 7 Student Leaders, this was one of the best yet in terms of student engagement!
There were two ideas for policy within your Union, and both were passed. So, let’s have a look at what happened.
Each forum requires a 75% majority to reach a proper fair consensus.
As there were 16 panellists, this meant that we needed 12 votes.
Our first idea was:
Should LUU and the University of Leeds provide more lockers for commuter students?
This proposal was passed, with 15 people voting ‘yes’ and one voting ‘no.’ This means that this idea is now policy across campus, and will be active for the next three years.
Our second idea was:
Should LUU support the reproductive health choices of students?
This proposal was passed, with 16 people voting ‘yes’ and 1 voting ‘no’. This proposal was originally titled “Should LUU support Pro-Choice Students’ – the panellists in the room asked if this could be changed from the original idea title to better reflect the idea-holder’s aims of providing information/resources.
In addition to these proposed changes, we received accountability checks from your student leaders.
