We have come to the end of Welcome Week 2025! We had so much fun celebrating the first week of the new academic year with all of our new and returning students. Our bars, venues, cafes, and spaces loved to see you all.
We started off the week with our fabulous Clubs and Societies Fair, with all of our 350+ Clubs and Societies showing off their wonderful talents and activities. From welfare to performance, our lovely student leaders were so excited to meet their prospective members.
Overall, our Clubs and Societies sold 26,700 memberships, with almost 60% of signups being new members. Our Give It a Go (GIAG) sessions saw 9,130 bookings, run by 228 of our Clubs and Socieites. With GIAG sessions continuing to run during term, there really is something for everyone at LUU.
Our Daytime Events were so much fun too! We hosted multiple arts and crafts sessions, sober socials, and friend making events to help you feel welcome at university. Our Bookmark Decorating was particularly popular, our students loved showing their skills and had so much fun doing so. The laid-back setting of our Daytime events created a relaxed and low-pressure way to meet new friends- we are so excited to see you at the next one! Both of our trips to Newcastle and Durham sold out, with many of our lovely students exploring brand new places and experiencing new cultures.
Of course, our Nighttime Events absolutely shone. With The First Fruity of The Year, the Big Freshers Arrival Party, and the Traffic Light Party completely selling out! Both new and returning students danced the night away to incredible tunes, and of course met our Fruity mascot, Sammy the Strawberry. We had so much fun and hope you did too.
Overall, Welcome Week was the perfect start to an incredible year. Our returning students and freshers had so much fun. Pop-up stalls, freebies, and incredible club nights- LUU has something for everyone, during Welcome Week and beyond.
